The following letter was mailed out to most of our clients in November 2002 to explain how we are planning to make the tax return process more efficient for all of us.

Dear Client:

We thank you for your business over the past years.  As you know, we try to make everything run efficiently and continue to do so even more for your 2002 returns.

For your 2002 and any other returns that are not in our office yet, it is MANDATORY for you to have your PERSONAL and BUSINESS financial data on ANY VERSION of QuickBooks 2002 or 2003.  To try this on your own is frustrating unless you are good with bookkeeping, numbers and computers.

We highly recommend you have a bookkeeper put your data in QuickBooks and show you how to operate this simple, efficient program or take the task over and do the work for you.  Otherwise it will be very costly for Kerry to correct it for you and show you how to operate QuickBooks.  Plus, it’s a very time consuming task that he truly doesn’t have time for.

There are a few more requests we have to buckle down on.

Extensions
The most important extension is the April 15th extension.  If you feel you made more money than in prior years and if you think you may owe anything, it is highly important at this extension time to send in money with your April 15 IRS and State extensions.

If you send in more $$$ than you think you’ll owe, then there will be no penalties and interest charged by IRS and Kerry can always get the money back for you.  That is the importance of QuickBooks.  At the touch of your mouse, it will tell you your income balance from last year and each year, so there can be no excuse that the total is UNKNOWN.

There are three standard extension times: April 15, August 15 & October 15.

If you send in an over-estimate of what you feel your taxes are owed, there is no problem to extend your tax work until through October 15 extension.

Deadlines
For your taxes to be done, your tax work needs to be in our office well before the IRS due dates.  Specifically,

March 1 to be completed by April 15

July 1 to be completed by August 15

September 1 to be completed by October 15

Our clients must have patience.  Kerry is DANCING AS FAST AS HE CAN, so please respect our time.

Summary for tax work to be sent in:

Send disc or Email a copy of your QuickBooks backup file (*.QBB) or Accountant's Review file (*.QBX) to Clients@TaxGuru.org

Completed DETAILED tax organizer mailed along with

Prepayment of what your fee was for last years tax work.  Your previous bill can be found with your last year’s tax work.

****Clients who have been late with payments will have to pay the remainder of their bill before their tax returns will be sent out.

Please call our office by April 1 if you need an extension and let us know the amount of money you are willing to send in if you think you owe IRS and State.

If you are willing to abide by these conditions, please sign this letter.  Make a copy for yourself and return it to our office with your tax work so we know you have read and agree with our terms.

If not, we wish you well with your new CPA and there will be no hard feelings.

We look forward to a much easier and efficient tax year.

Happy & Healthy Holidays

We wish you and those special to you, happiness and health, and to all of us, peace.

Respectfully,

Sherry & Kerry Kerstetter
