If IRS or the State
taxing agency sends me a notice that I owe some money, should I pay it?
If you believe that IRS
& State agencies are infallible, just pay them what they ask for. However,
it has been my experience that at least 90% of the notices are partially or
completely wrong. The best thing to do is to let your tax advisor review the
notice before deciding how to respond.
If your tax practitioner is among those who believe that all IRS & State
notices are correct & doesn't double-check the calculations, you should
consider changing to someone who lives in the real world.
